ITI Conference St. Ambrose of Milan – Person and Work

Invitation

to the ITI Conference

St. Ambrose of Milan
Person and Work

8–9 May 2026

Schloss Trumau

"For it is the Church or the soul that descends to the source of wisdom."
(St. Ambrose)

Everyone knows St. Ambrose as one of the four great Church Fathers of the West. His image can be found in countless churches. But he himself, his personality – as a great politician of late antiquity and then a man of the Church – and his work, his theoretical Christian interpretation of reality, all this stands in the shadow of the even greater, his, if you will, disciple: St. Augustine. Here, St. Ambrose himself should take center stage!

Learning from the Masters

With this open conference, we aim to demonstrate that the great texts – the building blocks that continue to ground Europe today – are an indispensable source. Here at the university, in both teaching and research, we are committed to a way of thinking that takes the whole of reality into account. Only a deep understanding of what is true and real can protect us from the many inhuman ideologies that are so casually promoted today.
