The International Theological Institute and thirteen other institutions of higher education comprise the opportunities for postsecondary education in the State of Lower Austria. Annually, the Research and Education Association of Lower Austria (NÖ Forschungs- und Bildungsges.m.b.H.) collects and presents detailed information on these state institutions in a publication called The Atlas of Higher Education Institutions in Lower Austria (Der Hochschulatlas NÖ).
The aim of the Atlas is to provide a comprehensive overview of all existing institutions of higher education in the state. It provides general information about the education system in Austria, contact information for the institutions and descriptions of them, and, most importantly, short commentaries on the study and research programs of respected students, graduates, and faculty members. This year, for the first time, the Research and Education Association in Lower Austria developed an online platform called Science Center of Lower Austria (Science Center Niederösterreich). Its purpose correlates with the purpose of the Atlas: to promote and further develop the research landscape of Lower Austria and to present the state’s existing research and higher education study programs.
