2018 will mark two important anniversaries: the 40th anniversary of legalized abortion in Italy, which has claimed 6 million victims since it was voted into law on May 18, 1978; and the 50th anniversary of Humanae Vitae, Paul VI's 1968 encyclical letter, which reiterated the Church's condemnation of abortion and contraception.
