Rector awarded honorary professorship at San Ignacio de Loyala University in Lima, Peru

The Faculty of Law of the San Ignacio de Loyola University in Lima, Peru, on 20 November 2018 awarded ITI Rector Dr. Christiaan Alting von Geusau an Honorary Professorship in recognition for his service to academia and international relations. The ceremony was held in the Aula of the Fernando Belaunde Terry campus in La Molina, which was attended by students, faculty and administrative staff of the university. Fittingly, the ceremony was commenced with the playing of the Peruvian National Anthem and the Netherlands National Anthem (Dr. Geusau is Dutch). After the laudatio given by Dr. Martín Santiváñez, Dean of the Law Faculty, and having been formally awarded the professorship, Rector Alting von Geusau gave his keynote speech "The Defining Battle of the 21st Century: Protecting Freedom of Conscience and Religion around the World". Later in the day, Professor Geusau also spoke in the former Senate Hall of the Peruvian National Congress where he addressed the same topic before a large audience of members of Congress, policy makers, students and other interested parties.

The University of San Ignacio de Loyola in Peru is a much respected and growing private university with various campuses throughout Peru but also in the United States. Academic cooperation and further study possibilities will present themselves here for ITI graduates in the future.
