John and Beth Mortensen (both STM 1999, STL 2001 and parents of 7 children) just received their second grant from the US government to translate St. Thomas Aquinas. The new grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities is for continuing their own translation of Aquinas's Commentary on the Sentences of Peter Lombard, which has never been translated into English. It follows a 2013 grant from the NEH to translate Book IV of the Sentences Commentary, which is currently going to print. The new grant will allow them to translate Books II and III of the Sentences Commentary, along with their team which includes ITI alumni Jeremy Holmes (STM 2001) and former faculty member Peter Kwasniewski. John Joy, who also completed his theological studies at the ITI, works for the Aquinas Institute as well. There are now 22 volumes of Aquinas's Opera Omnia in print, in Latin-English, hardcover editions, as well as online at www.aquinas.cc.
