Pater Ephrem Lomidze Has Been Awarded an Academic Prize

PD. Dr. habil. Ephrem Givi Lomidze, Lecturer of Ancient Church History and Patristics at the ITI Catholic University, and Head of St. Ephrem Scientific Center for Orient&Occident-Studies (STEP), has been awarded the ‘Prize for the Promotion of Scientific Works of the Society for the Study of the Christian East’ (Die Gesellschaft zum Studium des Chrstlichen Ostens (GSCO)) on June 16, 2023 in Erlangen.

The prize has been awarded every two years since 2009 for doctoral and post-doctoral theses, completed at a university in the German-speaking world, that are dedicated to the study of the Christian East and significantly advance scholarly knowledge of the history and theology of the Christian East. The title of Pater Ephrem’s habilitation is: Historical-theological Reconstruction of the Apostolic Origin of the Church of Georgia. The Question of the Tradition of the Antiochene-Petrine Succession on the Basis of the Sources up to the Mid-twelfth Century.
