Thursday Lecture by Prof. Rudolf Hilfer

"Does Pagan Cosmogony follow from General Relativity?"

Theology and Physics are both sciences. The speaker, a physicist, views Physics as “ancilla theologiae”. The lecture will discuss Physics-engaged Theology, or rather Theology-engaged Physics, by presenting the tenets of physical cosmology (Big-Bang Theory) and their questionable relevance for Biblical Cosmogony. It will focus on separating fact from fiction, speculation from truth.

Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Dr.rer.pol. Rudolf Hilfer is Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Stuttgart.
He has published numerous scientific articles, reviews and books in physics and mathematics. He established time fractional diffusion as the continuum limit of certain non-Markovian stochastic processes and introduced fractional derivatives into thermodynamics by identifying the order of the derivative with the order of the phase transition.
